Scientists from Max Planck Institute (Germany) developed a real-life holodeck using Oculus Rift. Also, numerous cameras were used in a 10 ×10-sized room. Although it differs greatly from Start Trek, the results are very promising.
All the objects were equipped with special markers, which made it possible for infra-red cameras trace them precisely. It is also possible to find out in which direction they are moving and what they are looking at.
The experiment was all wireless, with no cables connected to the person, who was able to walk whenever he wanted.A single challenge for developers is that technology cannot be used by several people simultaneously, as the wireless capability is not sufficient.
