We have reported earlier about a joint project of Oculus VR and Samsung and mutual benefits both companies can make of it. This project, Gear VR, is planned to be presented to the public eye already this September, at IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin. Oculus recently commented that joint efforts of the companies are aimed at developing appropriate software for the VR headset.
Samsung, however, is not willing to comment more and reveal specific details. The representative of the company said: “Samsung is committed to relentless innovation, and new products are always in development, but at this time we don’t have any information to share on the speculation on Gear VR.”
Gear VR is developed specifically for Samsung smartphones. It has OLED displays and is equipped with applications like 360 Player, Theatre and Gallery. Additional apps will be further added.
