Words with Friends is a popular mobile game. One of its co-founders, Paul Bettner (CEO at Playful Corp.), is currently working on the development of Lucky’s Tale game, designed solely for Oculus Rift. The new development is supposed to be presented at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2014 in Los Angeles.
This is what Mr Brettner says himself: “This is not a port. We’ve made something new, from scratch – a made-only-for-VR game. The result is unexpected and surprisingly delightful. A platformer in VR? It’s a totally new experience, not what typically comes to mind when you think of what a VR game can be. I can’t wait to see how people react when they get to play it for the first time at E3.”
Paul Bettner is also known as an early supporter of Oculus Rift within Kickstarter project.
“Virtual reality–I mean truly accurate, comfortable virtual reality–is the most important thing to happen to interactive entertainment in decades,” believes Brettner.
“I know it sounds like exaggeration, but it’s impossible to explain what this is like to someone who hasn’t experienced it for themselves. Your brain is convinced that you are somewhere else, that you are in another world. I have worked my entire career to get to this moment, to create something like this.”
Also, Playful Corp. is working on “Creativerse” project, which will too be available with Oculus support.
As for Oculus VR itself, this deal is not a single one. Previously it had made contract with another successful computer game, Eve: Valkyrie. So, for many true fans of this technology the most urgent issue for now is to store patience and wait till Oculus Rift is launched on consumer market.
